…In December, 1959 Jose arranged with his brother, the defendant Victor M. Calderon, for the advance by his corporation, the defendant V.M. Calderon, Inc., of the funds required to pay the expenses incident to the proposed sale of the olive oil. Jose authorized V.M. Calderon, Inc. to invoice the sales of the olive oil and to reimburse itself for expenses of the sales, and after paying to itself 1 1/2% of the total sales price, to remit to Jose. Defendants sold the olive oil. The sales price and reasonable value of the olive oil was $30,040.53, of which Roig has received no part except $2,500.

Victor M. Calderon owned food firm
Victor Calderon owner of a specialty foods company and former longtime Harrison resident, died Monday at his home in Sarasota Fla. He was 83.
Mr. Calderon was born Nov. 4, 1900 in Seville, Spain. The son of Sultana DeMayo and Jose Calderon he was educated in England and came to New York in 1923. In Manhattan he established a foods import company, V.M. Calderon, Inc. The company moved to White Plains in 1958, and to Sarasota in 1972.
Mr. Calderon and his wife, Elsie Forbes, who survives in Sarasota, lived on Puritan Road in Harrison from 1942 to 1955. They then lived in Ridgefield, Conn., until 1958 when they moved back to live on Seville Avenue in Harrison until moving to Sarasota in 1972.
Mr. Calderon is survived by a sister Veza Cansino of Manhattan; two sons, Victor F. of Sarasota and Erskine B. of Philadelphia; two daughters, Elisabeth Beardow of Bronxville and Valerie Schirmer of Darien, Conn; and six grandchildren.

To which I replied: “Really? I think he [Bob Fischer] stood up to the broken system of corruption and raised awareness! This ongoing work is a tribute to the life and accomplishments of Robert “Bobby” Fischer who passionately loved and studied chess history. May his life continue to inspire many other future generations of chess enthusiasts and kibitzers, alike.
March 9, 1943 - January 17, 2008The photograph of Bobby Fischer (above) from the March 02, 1956 The Tampa Times was discovered by Sharon Mooney (Bobby Fischer Newspaper Archive editor) on February 01, 2018 while gathering research materials for this ongoing newspaper archive project. Along with lost games now being translated into Algebraic notation and extractions from over two centuries of newspapers, it is but one of the many lost treasures to be found in the pages of old newspapers since our social media presence was first established November 11, 2017.
