Vera Menchik Leads.
Mrs. R. H. S. Stevenson, nee Vera Menchik of Czecho-Slovakia, maintains the early lead she gained in the International Chess Federation woman's championship tourney in which 20 feminine stars are entered.
Sonja Graf, an expatriated German, lost only one game out of her first six and the loss was to Miss N. May Karff of Boston, United States woman champion. Mrs. Stevenson won her first six games.
Behind the leads are Berna Carrasco, Chile, 4-1; Ingrid Larsen, Denmark, 4-2; Mrs. Ingeborg Andersson, Sweden, 3½-2½; Hilda Lauberte, Latvia, 3-2, and Maria Mora, Cuba, 3-2.
Miss Karff is the only American player at the Buenos Aires Congress.
