Plan Chess Show In Canoga Park
A “tandem-simultaneous” chess exhibition by James Barry and Robert Lober will be presented by West Valley Chess Club at 7:30 p.m. April 30 at Orcutt Park, 21816 Lanark, Canoga Park.
All West Valley chess players are invited to match their skill against the two experts. After the exhibition, there will be a meeting to discuss the club's spring tournament, which is scheduled to start the following week. Further information is available by calling R. E. Cunningham, Diamond 8-1314.
Tentative plans are to make the spring tournament a two-section event to provide interesting competition for both strong players and players with limited experience.

Chess Club of Van Nuys to Play Mexican Team
A 10-man team from the Van Nuys Chess Club will drive to Tujunga, Mexico on Sunday to engage there in a chess match.
Although only one member of the Van Nuys team speaks Spanish, there is expected to be no communications harrier, said a club official.
Harold Milner, president of the Van Nuys club, will be captain of the team headed by James Barry, the club expert.
Milner said, “We feel that by stimulating an interest in international chess, we are furthering amicable cultural relations between our country and others.”
The Van Nuys club is taking two trophies down to Mexico. One is a friendship trophy which will be presented to the Tijuana club from the Van Nuys club. The second is a team trophy to be kept by the winning club.
