First prize winner of the Carlsbad International Chess Tournament, 1911, the largest ever held.
This photograph was taken immediately after the Carlsbad tourney, and is one of the best ever taken of him. His record we have already printed. It has been said that he “is probably the best living solder of chess problems,” which we doubt, as there are several Americans who surpass him. Teichmann, although a native of Germany, for a long time resided in England, so his countrymen call him the “Deutsch Englander.” Teichmann will enter either the New York tournament in January, the San Sebastian tourney in February, or both if possible.
