Bryant, City, Is Tied in State Chess Meet
Harold Evans, playing in the Masters' class of the New York state chess championships, drew three times against separate opponents at Poughkeepsie, before suffering defeat at the hands of Isaac Kashdan, who retained his title. Evans drew with A. Woods, Syracuse champion, Sterling Carter, Poughkeepsie champion, and Theodore von Barron, the New York master. The defeat by Kashdan came after 54 moves in a queen's gambit declined.
Lynn Bryant, a second member of the Broome county team that tied for the possession of the Genesee cup, is tied with A. Chadwick in first place in the Class A tourney. Bryant, who has not lost a game, was reelected secretary- treasurer of the New York State Chess Federation by unanimous vote.
