Teen-Age Is Standout In State Chess Event
Baton Rouge (AP)— A. L. McAuley of New Orleans made it three in a row over the weekend to take the 14th annual Louisiana Chess Assn. championship here for the third consecutive year.
But the star of the tournament was 14-year-old James West of Baton Rouge who won the class title and emerged as the only undefeated player. He was participating in his first competition.
In taking the champion class title McAuley lost only one game to A. C. Buckland, also of New Orleans who took second place.
