Louis Boeh, 68, longtime teacher
Louis Boeh, 68, who begin teaching in 1932 in Cincinnati schools thought school-teaching was “the most demanding but most satisfying career in the world.”
He could have retired at age 65 but thought the children at Washington Park School, his most recent assignment in the Over-the-Rhine area needed his expert and affectionate attention.
Mr. Boeh died Sunday at Christ Hospital. He lived at 3525 Shaw Avenue, Hyde Park.
Teaching was his first love, but he also served as assistant principal at several elementary and junior high schools including Oakley, Westwood, Eastwood, Peaslee and Walnut Hills. He began his teaching career at Taft Elementary School then transferred to Walnut Hills High School.
He received degrees from both Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati and was a member of PU Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, the Schoolmasters club, the Kiwanis Club and the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Boeh leaves his wife, Mrs Margaret C. Boeh; a son, Louis F. Boeh, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Cotton.
Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. Francis de Sales Church, Walnut Hills.
Visitation will be from 7 pm to 9 pm tonight at the Elden A. Good Funeral Home at 2620 Erie Avenue, Hyde Park.
The family suggests memorials be given to the Eastwood School Children's Fund to the Washington Park School Welfare Fund, or for Masses.
