A. J. McCLURE IS DEAD.
In the sudden death, Friday night, of Archibald J. McClure, New York chess circles sustained a severe loss, inasmuch as Mr. McClure for many years had been a keen enthusiast and supporter of the game. As a member of the Marshall and Manhattan Chess Clubs, and also of the section at the New York Athletic Club, Mr. McClure in close contact the leading exponents of chess in this city. He belonged also to the Correspondence Chess League of America, which has its headquarters here, and had contested many by mail with opponents in all parts the country.
