Officers Elected By Chess Club
Hayward, March 17—Eric Salo of 15898 Via Pinale, San Lorenzo, has been elected president of the Hayward Chess Club.
Other officers are Bill Costellano, vice president; Bill Koenig, secretary, and Ernie Bartholomew, treasurer.
The group's clubhouse at 578 A Street, will be open at 7 p.m. each evening for the next two weeks to welcome new players.

Hayward Chess Club Sets Tourney
Hayward, Aug. 25—The Hayward Chess Club, located at 578 A St., will sponsor an open tournament starting at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30, and continuing for five consecutive Friday evenings.
The entry fee is $2.50 to members of the U.S. Chess Federation. Members of chess clubs in the area are invited to enter. Interested persons may contact Eric Salo, club president, of 15898 Via Pinale, San Lorenzo.
Ernest Bartholomew will be tournament director.

After which the troll posted a string of profanities, confirming there was never any genuine sentiment of “compassion” for Mr. Fischer, rather an intent to inflict further defamatory remarks.

This ongoing work is a tribute to the life and accomplishments of Robert “Bobby” Fischer who passionately loved and studied chess history. May his life continue to inspire many other future generations of chess enthusiasts and kibitzers, alike.

The photograph of Bobby Fischer (above) from the March 02, 1956 The Tampa Times was discovered by Sharon Mooney (Bobby Fischer Newspaper Archive editor) on February 01, 2018 while gathering research materials for this ongoing newspaper archive project. Along with lost games now being translated into Algebraic notation and extractions from over two centuries of newspapers, it is but one of the many lost treasures to be found in the pages of old newspapers since our social media presence was first established November 11, 2017.
