George Hunnex Qualifies for State Championship Finals
Browne, who is the current California titleholder, finished in second place with a final tally of 4-1. Schutt tied with George Hunnex and Julius Loftsson, each scoring 3½-1½.
California Junior Champion Jim Tarjan, who had been one of the favorites, tied at 3-2 with Jim Lazos, Carl Pilnick and George Saidi. Tarjan lost to Peter Rhee and Arthur Spiller.
Henin, Hunnex, Loftsson and Schutt qualified for the finals of the State Championship Tournament, to be held in San Francisco in December. Browne had previously been seeded into the finals.
