State Meeting in Newark.
J. W. Brunnemer, formerly of Brooklyn but now a resident of Westwood, N. J., will be on hand at the Newark Chess Club, 184 William St., Newark, tomorrow morning, to defend his title in the annual championship tournament of the New Jersey Chess Association. Brunnemer was the winner in 1921 and 1922, and last year tied for first place with C. E. Armstrong. This tie has not yet been played off.
There will also be a minor tournament in which the entries will be divided into four classes, according to strength.

BRUNNEMER RETAINS CHESS TITLE BY DEFEATING COHEN
Successfully defending his title for the fourth year in succession, John W. Brunnemer, of Westwood, N. J., again emerged as champion of the New Jersey Chess Association, by defeating Jack Cohen, of Newark, if the fourth and final round of the annual tournament at the rooms of the Newark Chess Club.
