THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENT.
The thirteenth round of the international chess tournament at Vienna was played on Thursday, and this left the scores of the various competitors as follow: Winawer, 10 games;
Blackburne, 9;
Steinitz, 9;
Mackenzie, 9;
Englisch, 8½
Schwarz, 8;
Zukertort, 7½;
Mason, 7½;
Hruby, 7½;
Noa, 7½;
Wittek, 6½;
Bird, 5;
Fleissig, 5;
Paulsen, 4½;
Weiss, 4½;
Tschigorin, 4;
Meitner, 4; and Ware, 3.
A partial return of the play in the fourteenth round has been received, from which it appears that Blackburne, the English champion, was beaten by Noa. Blackburne's previous losses were to Steinitz, Winawer, Paulsen, and Mackenzie. He won his game with Zukertort. The first half of the contest will be completed on Wednesday, when the seventeenth round will be played, there being 34 rounds in all.
