Jerome Wolfe, 19, a Los Angeles student at the University of California at Santa Barbara, is the new Southern California junior chess champion, it was announced yesterday.
Wolfe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wolfe, of 528 N. Hayworth Ave., was the only undefeated player among 28 participants in the 10-day round robin tournament which began last Dec. 20.
The title-deciding match between Wolfe and Ronald Gross, 17, of Compton High School, required four hours to complete. All matches were played at the Hollywood Chess Group headquarters at 108 N Formosa Ave.
