Pal Benko, Hungarian refugee who sought asylum in the U. S. Embassy at Reykjavik, Iceland, after playing there in the 1957 international students' tournament, has just won the U. S. Western Open. Benko, who is 29, is a former Hungarian champion. He now lives in Cleveland and intends to remain in this country.

Pal Benko, who made it one ahead of the Russian tanks in the recent aggression against Hungary, is making Cleveland his new home. America therefore will represented by two entrants in the great [1959 Challengers] tourney.
