New York, March 2.—Dr. Alexander Alekhine of Paris has been engaged by the Manhattan Chess Club for a series of three performances lasting a week during the latter part of March when the world's champion is expected here. The famous Franco-Russian master dethroned Jose Capablanca at Buenos Aires.

Alekhine Wins Title.
BRADLEY BEACH, N. J., June 12. Dr. Alexander Alekhine of Paris Tuesday won the International Chess Masters' Tournament which has been in progress here for the past nine days. Alekhine did not lose a game. Lajos Steiner, of Budapest, won the second prize, losing only to Dr. Alekhine.
