Nice, France, March 19 (AP)—Alexander A. Alekhine, world's chess champion, was “checked” today when he tried to get married for the fourth time.
A marriage license clerk demanded proof of Alekhine's Amsterdam divorce from his third wife and told the chess player he was ineligible to marry because he had not lived here a sufficient length of time.
