A series of five very interesting consultation games, with three player a side, has been carried through during the past month in Berlin between the venerable Schachgesellschaft (Chess Association) and the more recently formed Schach klub of that city. The former is far more numerous and had a much larger array of first-class players to draw upon, being represented, in various groupings by Herren Caro, Schallopp, von Scheve, Harmonist, Senfert, Dr. son Heydebreck, Ranneforth, Heyde and Dr. Simonson, while the whole burden of playing for the latter in every game fell upon Herren C. von Bardeleben, W. Cohn and Dr. Lasker. But they certainly sustained their undertaking admirably, succeeding in winning two and drawing two out of the first four games, and having at last accounts good chances of gaining the fifth, which had been adjourned.
