BLINDFOLD CHESS AT GERMANIA.
A most remarkable exposition of playing chess without sight of the board was given by Herr Lasker last night. He played three games at the same time merely to show to the general public how this wonderful feat of memory is performed. The champion moved with extraordinary rapidity, astonishing the large audience by his constant readiness.
Play began at 8, and in about thirty-five minutes hearty applause greeted an announcement of a mate in four moves by Herr Lasker. Ten minutes later Mr. Sargent, of the Brixton Chess Club, won a very fine game against the champion. Shortly afterwards the third game resulted in a draw, the whole performance not occupying more than one hour. Herr Lasker will continue playing throughout the week. Appended is the fine game won by Mr. Sargent:
