I am sorry to hear that Mr. Blackburne, the well-known chess player, is far from well. A chess tournament will take place soon to assist in raising subscriptions for a testimonial to him. Mr. Blackburne, I am told, has not been in good health since the close of the last great tournament in which he took part, and his present condition, if not serious, gives at least much anxiety to his friends.

Mr. Blackburne, the English Chess Champion, leaves England on a tour of the Australian colonies early this month. Mr. Blackburne who has suffered from bad health lately, attended the meeting of the City of London Chess Club on Monday evening, in order to bid his brother members “good bye.” Mr. Adamson proposed the departing champion's health and the Club wished him “bon voyage and a safe return”.
