Death of a Great Chess Player.
A telegram from Philadelphia announces the death of Harry N. Pillsbury, the famous American chess player. He was in his thirty-fourth year only, having been born at Somerville, near Boston, Massachusetts, on 5th Dec. 1872. It is, alas, too true, of the greatest chess, players that they seldom reach old age. Our own Blackburne, the British chess championship has done some remarkable feats in his time, and is still, we believe, hale and hearty at 64, Mr. Pillsbury married, at Chicago, five years ago, the daughter of Judge Albert J. Bush.
