Mr. J. H. Blackburne at Cirencester.
Mr. Blackburne, the chess champion, gave an exhibition of simultaneous play at the King's Head Assembly Rooms on Thursday evening, in connection with the opening of the Cirencester Chess Club for the season. The players, 25 in number, included visitors from Gloucester, Swindon, etc. Two players drew with Mr. Blackburne—Mr. J. C. Plaister (Swindon), and Mr. T. B. Wilson (Cirencester)—but the others had to acknowledge defeat.
