BLACKBURNE’S VISIT TO STIRLING
On Tuesday evening of next week — the 8th inst. — Mr. J. H. Blackburne, the chess champion of Britain, and the doyen of master chess players all over the world, pays his annual pays his annual visit to Stirling under the auspices of the local chess club. As usual he will play in the Station Hotel and on this occasion he will give something new. Not only is he to meet a large number of opponents over the board in a simultaneous display, but he is to give an exhibition of blindfold play against three antagonists playing at different boards. This is the first time a public blindfold display has taken place in Stirling and as it will be new to the big majority of the local devotees of chess it ought to be an attraction. The blindfold exhibition will commence at 7 o’clock sharp and at 8.15 a start will be made with the simultaneous display over the board. The committee of the Stirling Club will select the three who are to oppose the champion in the blindfold seance as he wishes fast players, but anyone who desires a board in the simultaneous exhibition to follow will please communicate with the hon. secretary, Mr. D. Lindsay “Observer” Office. The following evening Mr. Blackburne gives a simultaneous display at Bridge of Allan.
